Join the Dots 2024

tsiMORAY's annual conference - Connecting ideas, people, Moray

This year, Join The Dots takes a look at three priorities - three windows - into our future.

Together, with our panel of guest speakers, we will look at why and how the third sector and our communities can shape:

1. Building Belonging

Wellbeing starts in our communities when people feel they belong. How can we bridge 'disconnect' and make places where diversity and equality thrives? What do we need to do to build, sustain and boost belonging, so that it remains strong and integral to the work we do in our communities?

2. Using AI and Technology for Good

Digital technology enables new ways of communicating, creating, living and working.

While Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been around for awhile, for most of us, AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Bing is new. The potential power of AI technology is difficult to exaggerate. It will be up to all of us, individually and collectively, to influence how AI will shape our future. Local community groups and organisations can create a future where AI is used for Good. Let's find out how.

3. Advancing Local Climate Action

With Moray's Climate Action Network now officially launched, and with a large number of local projects underway thanks to Moray's Local Action Group and the Just Transition Participatory Budgeting Fund, we will be finding out what needs to happens next, so that we can accelerate local climate action. We'll also be able to see how this action will be supported by the new Community Led Vision for Moray.

The Future of Fundraising

In our afternoon keynote session, we will be exploring, more in depth, a critical element in shaping our future - funding.

Hear about where fundraising might be going and how funders are viewing the future, including how AI might feature.

During the day, there'll be the opportunity to network and also connect with stallholders offering information and support.

Everything Must Change - Film Screening

Everything Must Change - Film Screening

Cost of living, climate change, food, housing, land: the multiple crises we face are deeply interlinked, which means the solutions are too.

Everything Must Change is a major new film explaining how all these crises – and the accompanying spiralling price rises – have come about, and shows how a just transition to a renewable energy system based on people's needs can work to solve all of them.

Moray is at the forefront of the energy transition from fossil fuels to renewables, but the Just Transition Commission for Scotland has issued a warning that, as a country, we are not on track to achieve a Just Transition.

We have real and pressing challenges. Moray's public services are facing severe cuts; we have some of the highest levels of fuel poverty in Scotland, and offshore oil and gas workers are not being given sufficient support to transition to renewables.

Moray Trades Union Council, Moray Climate Action Network, and UHI Moray's Just Transition research team invite you to a screening of Everything Must Change, followed by discussion of how we as workers and a community can bring about a Just Transition for Moray.

The event is free with food and soft drinks provided. Please register as capacity is limited at our venue.

Doors open at 6.30pm. Film starts 7pm (run time 72mins) followed by discussion groups.
